FACTORY DESCRIPTION

SKU Code: G10/100UKG

The MWC G10 100m/330ft water-resistant models in stainless steel are one of MWC's longest-established G10/GS series watches, used by the military since the mid-1980s. This updated model has been assigned the NATO Stock Number NSN: 6645-99-472-3228 by the Ministry of Defence Codification Agency, confirming it as the most up-to-date approved specification (see attached MOD codification sheet).

This watch features a highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and an impressive 10-year battery life. While it traces its origins back to our earliest G10 designs from the 1980s, this model is fully upgraded whilst still remaining visually very similar to the earlier models.

Key Features:

  • Enhanced Water Resistance: The screw-down crown and caseback significantly improve water resistance.
  • Swiss Precision: Equipped with the Swiss Ronda 715li movement, which boasts a 10-year battery life, reducing maintenance needs.
  • Non-Reflective Finish: The case has a light sandblasted, non-reflective finish, achieved by blasting the case with tiny glass or sand particles. This gives it a matte appearance and minimizes light reflection.
  • Durability: Developed under contract specifications requiring a covert design, screw caseback, 100m water resistance, sapphire crystal, and screw-down crown, resulting in a low-maintenance and highly durable timepiece.

The watch comes with a current issue heat-welded grey NATO webbing strap in Admiralty Grey. The back of the case bears various contract markings in addition to the unique serial number.

Important Note: We frequently receive inquiries regarding the G10 model supplied to the British Army. For clarification, we confirm that this is the model currently supplied to the UK MoD.

Benefits of Sapphire Crystal:

Many ask about the benefits of sapphire crystal over standard mineral crystal. Synthetic sapphire is the best material for watch crystals due to its exceptional strength and resistance to shattering and scratching. These qualities make it ideal for military and security personnel, police officers, and those with active outdoor lifestyles, who comprise over 70% of our customers.

When accidents involving watches result in cracked crystals, over 90% involve mineral glass crystals. Even with hardened mineral crystals, they do not match sapphire's durability in adverse conditions. Sapphire crystals undergo heat treatment to remove internal stresses, enhancing strength, and are then crafted into watch crystals with two layers of anti-reflective coating. Interestingly, sapphire crystal is now standard on the latest iPhones. While sapphire crystal is more costly, it is typically fitted only to higher-end watches due to its superior quality.
