We have two of these watches due to arrive in Mid May from the 2025 Border Security Expo. They are both brand new, and in perfect condition but the strap might show signs of having been tried on, and the packaging might be slightly soiled but both have a full 24 month guarantee from the manufacturer.

This rugged automatic diver’s watch is a modern reissue of an original 1980s MWC model, specially redeveloped for a U.S. military contractor. Their client required a high-specification, no-nonsense tool watch—and that’s exactly what this is. With its robust stainless steel case, upgraded features, and sterile (unbranded) dial, the result is a clean, tactical design with an authentic military edge.

Heritage Meets Modern Engineering

The watch is based on the 1980 UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) specification for automatic dive watches—DEF STAN 66-4 (Part 1), Issue 3—which included features like a unidirectional bezel, tritium lume, and a mineral glass crystal. While this remake stays true to the spirit of that original spec, we’ve incorporated modern upgrades where they count:

• Sapphire crystal for superior scratch and shatter resistance

• 300m / 1000ft water resistance

• A high-performance NH35A automatic movement with 24 jewels and a 41-hour power reserve

• Updated luminous paint (Luminova) for outstanding low-light visibility

The dial is unbranded—often called a “sterile dial” in military terms—which keeps the face totally uncluttered and distraction-free. It’s a design choice rooted in military tradition and highly valued by professionals who prefer discretion.

Why Sapphire Crystal?

Sapphire crystal is by far the best material for watch glass—favoured by military and law enforcement personnel, first responders, and outdoor enthusiasts. It’s incredibly tough, virtually scratchproof, and highly resistant to impact.

To put it into perspective:

• Over 90% of cracked watch crystals we see are mineral glass

• Even our hardened mineral crystals can’t match sapphire in real-world durability

• Sapphire is heat-treated to remove internal stresses before shaping, then coated with two layers of anti-reflective treatment
