MWC Depthmaster 100ATM Military Diver – 1000m Professional Saturation Diving Watch

SKU: 100ATM/1224/SS/QZ

Designed without compromise, the MWC Depthmaster 100ATM represents the pinnacle of MWC's professional diving watch range. Engineered for military, commercial and professional diving applications, it combines exceptional durability with genuine deep-diving capability in a watch built to perform where ordinary dive watches reach their limits.

With an impressive 100 ATM (1,000m / 3,280ft) water resistance, the Depthmaster is suitable for saturation and mixed-gas diving while remaining equally at home as an exceptionally rugged everyday sports watch.

The brushed 316L stainless steel case is paired with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal featuring an anti-reflective coating, while the ceramic bezel insert resists scratching and fading far better than traditional aluminium bezels. A wider 24mm NATO strap provides increased stability on the wrist, and the deeply machined unidirectional bezel offers excellent grip, even when wearing diving gloves or operating in freezing conditions.

Built for Professional Diving

Unlike many dive watches that are designed primarily for recreational use, the Depthmaster incorporates features specifically required for commercial and military diving operations.

Every model is fitted with an automatic helium escape valve, allowing the watch to be safely used during saturation diving.

During prolonged periods inside pressurised diving habitats, helium molecules gradually penetrate the seals of virtually any watch. Because helium atoms are extraordinarily small, they can pass through seals that remain completely waterproof.

As divers return to the surface, the trapped gas expands during decompression. Without a means of releasing this pressure, it can force the crystal from the case or damage the crown and seals.

The Depthmaster's automatic helium escape valve safely vents this pressure during decompression while remaining completely sealed throughout normal diving operations.

Why Helium Matters

Professional saturation divers breathe specially formulated oxygen and helium gas mixtures because helium does not produce the narcotic effects associated with nitrogen under high pressure.

These divers often spend days or even weeks living in pressurised environments before gradually returning to normal atmospheric pressure through carefully controlled decompression.

This specialised form of diving is where a helium escape valve becomes essential.

For recreational divers, however, helium is never present inside the watch, meaning the valve will rarely, if ever, be required. Nevertheless, any watch intended for genuine professional deep-sea use must include this feature to be considered fully fit for purpose.

Precision Swiss Quartz Performance

Powering the watch is the proven Swiss Ronda 715Li quartz movement.

Chosen for its outstanding reliability and exceptionally low power consumption, it offers an impressive 10-year battery life while incorporating a hacking seconds function for precise time synchronisation.

The combination of Swiss accuracy, long service intervals and robust construction makes it particularly well suited to military, emergency service and expedition use.

Military 12/24-Hour Dial

This particular model features a classic US-pattern 12/24-hour military dial, providing rapid reading of both civilian and military time.

Highly legible Super-Luminova illumination is applied to the hands, hour markers and bezel to maximise visibility in darkness and low-light environments.

Sapphire Crystal – The Professional Standard

The Depthmaster uses a premium synthetic sapphire crystal, widely recognised as the finest material available for watch crystals.

Sapphire offers outstanding scratch resistance together with exceptional impact strength, making it the preferred choice for military personnel, police officers, security professionals and outdoor users who demand maximum durability.

Based on decades of servicing military watches, we have found that the overwhelming majority of cracked crystals occur on watches fitted with mineral glass. Even hardened mineral glass cannot match the durability of sapphire under demanding real-world conditions.

Following manufacture, each sapphire crystal is heat-treated to eliminate internal stresses before receiving an anti-reflective coating to improve clarity and reduce glare.

Although considerably more expensive than mineral glass, sapphire has become the benchmark for premium professional watches because of its exceptional longevity and resilience.
