FACTORY DESCRIPTION
SKU: 500M/SUBC/SS
The MWC "Naval Crew" range of Military Divers models is part of MWC's latest heavy-duty collection, featuring two variants: one with a stainless steel finish and the other in covert non-reflective PVD steel. These watches are equipped with red T100 tritium GTLS tubes, ideal for preserving night vision on a ship's bridge or in a submarine. Submarines are typically 'rigged for red' to allow the use of the periscope at night, dusk, and dawn without interference from bright lights in the control room. This feature is crucial for submarine crews when coming to periscope depth, helping to maintain their night vision.
These robust and durable models feature shatter and scratch-resistant sapphire crystals and are versatile enough for a wide range of applications, including deep diving with mixed gases, thanks to their 500m (1,640ft) water resistance rating. The watches also come with a wide 24mm strap and a non-scratch ceramic bezel designed for easy grip in cold and icy conditions.
Equipped with a high-quality Ronda GMT 515.24H movement with a hacking function for synchronization, these watches offer the benefits of GMT or dual time zone functionality. By adding a second independently adjustable hour hand that travels around the dial in 24 hours instead of the usual 12, the watch provides a clear indication of the time in another time zone, eliminating any confusion between a.m. and p.m.
All MWC 500m (1,640ft) models are fitted with a helium escape valve. Helium molecules, being among the smallest, can penetrate the watch's seals even when they effectively keep out water and other gases. Saturation divers, who spend extended periods at great depths under high pressure, can experience a buildup of helium inside the watch. This buildup can cause serious damage, potentially blowing out the crystal or crown when unscrewed. The helium escape valve allows these molecules to escape during decompression, preventing damage.
Helium is used in deep diving because it does not have the negative effects of nitrogen, such as nitrogen narcosis. Professional divers operating at great depths in pressurized environments with an oxygen/helium mix must eliminate this gas during decompression to avoid the aforementioned problems.
While most divers won't need a helium valve, it is essential for those who do deep diving to ensure the watch remains fit for purpose.

Benefits of Sapphire Crystal:
Synthetic sapphire is the best material for watch crystals because of its exceptional strength and resistance to shattering and scratching. These characteristics make it highly appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and those with active outdoor lifestyles, accounting for over 70% of our customers. In accidents resulting in a cracked crystal, over 90% involve watches with mineral glass crystals. Even hardened mineral crystals do not match the durability of sapphire. Heat-treated to remove internal stresses, sapphire crystals are then coated with two layers of anti-reflective coating, making them even stronger. Although more expensive, sapphire crystal is typically found on higher-end watches and is also used in the latest iPhones.
These attributes make the MWC "Naval Crew" range an excellent choice for those seeking a robust, reliable, and stylish timepiece suitable for both professional diving and demanding everyday use.
