NATO Ballistic Nylon Watchband
This classic NATO watchband is crafted from fast-drying ballistic nylon webbing. The high-tech material is robust, comfortable, and long-lasting, making it ideal for military watch straps. Its design is perfect for extreme activities, as it greatly reduces the risk of losing a watch. The strap secures the watch at two separate points, making it virtually impossible for the watch to come off the wrist.
History of the NATO Strap
The history of the NATO strap began about 40 years ago with the single gray 20mm band. From there, it expanded to include colors such as RAF Blue, Black, and Navy Blue, followed by the popular James Bond pattern, Olive Green, and many more. Over time, we introduced a wide variety of straps in regimental colors, Search and Rescue (SAR) orange, and numerous designs in national colors, police unit colors, and various camouflage patterns for specific applications.
These straps are not only used by military units outside the UK, but are also frequently purchased by active-duty military personnel for a wide range of military watches.
Currently, we supply around 200 different variants in various colors. While most of these straps are made for retail, some are custom-designed and supplied through procurement contracts.
Official Specifications
The original NATO strap specifications were established by the UK Ministry of Defence under Defence Standard 66-47, Issue 2 (published on 30 March 2001). Earlier standards included Def Stan 66-47, Issue 1 (dated 13 November 1992), and two even earlier specifications: Def Stan 66-15 (Part 1) Issue 1 – Strap (Nylon), dated 30 November 1973, and Def Stan 66-15 (Part 2) Issue 1 – Strap (Leather/Nylon), dated 31 January 1974.
While the current specifications have evolved slightly, the core design remains largely the same. Most bulk contracts require stitching around the buckles for added durability.
Trusted for Over 20 Years
For over two decades, we’ve supplied these straps to a wide range of clients, including military personnel, police forces, emergency services, exploration units, Search and Rescue teams, oil and gas companies, marine salvage operations, and businesses operating in tropical or desert environments.
NATO straps are highly favored in these industries because they are easy to clean, dry in minutes, and do not rot like leather or split like silicone.
Compatible with Leading Watch Brands
NATO straps are ideal for use with watches from all leading military contractors as well as robust civilian watches, including brands like Seiko, Rolex, Breitling, and Pulsar.
