However, due to time constraints, our service staff in the UK and other locations conduct only a quick preliminary check.

Watch Details:

Model: T/12/SL23
Condition: Brand New and Unused and Running  fine in Original Packaging
Fault:  it came from a military and security industries clearance sale. There was a ticket saying one of the hands needs resetting, but it looked fine when we checked it we can't see an issue. We set the Watch to the correct time and all of the hands moved correctly so we're unsure why it had this label on it.

Factory Description:

SKU Code: T/12/SL23PV

This is the latest MWC self-luminous G10 model from MWC's Combat Elite range. It features a titanium case with 300m (1000ft) water resistance, a screw-down crown, a screw-down caseback, a scratch- and shatter-resistant sapphire crystal, and Tritium GTLS light sources on the hands for maximum visibility in low-light conditions.

The covert matte black non-reflective PVD finish used on this watch is often specified in military contracts for special forces units, as well as anti-terrorist teams, for covert operations. The titanium isn't black throughout; the color is achieved through a special chemical PVD plating process, vastly superior to the painted finish used on lower-quality watches that can fade or wear off. This PVD process alters the metal's color at a molecular level, ensuring it won't deteriorate under heavy use. However, the finish can be damaged if the case is severely gouged or worn down from intense abrasion.

The MWC 300m Black PVD titanium G10, equipped with a Swiss Ronda 715li movement, is one of their highest-specification general service watches. It combines modern and traditional watchmaking technology, retaining the popular features of conventional 300m steel models while adding a titanium case, low-maintenance movement, and cutting-edge self-luminous GTLS tritium vials, which provide exceptional night visibility. With the added benefit of a scratch- and shatter-resistant sapphire crystal, this is an ideal timepiece for military, law enforcement, and security applications.

The self-luminous system ensures the watch is easy to read at night, with a highly visible dial. The hour markers and the hour and minute hands each have a glowing Tritium gas vial. Though these vials contain radioactive gas, their total radioactivity is well below the personal safety limit of 25 millicuries, as per U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations (10 CFR 30.15). These military watches are among the easiest to read in low-light or total darkness, thanks to a self-activated light source that's 100 times brighter than traditional paint-based light sources. The tubes require no battery power or external charging and never need servicing or maintenance.

MWC designed these watches for a government contract, taking into account the need for long-term storage. Since the watches wouldn’t be used continuously, they recommended the Ronda 715li movement due to its 10-year battery life, preventing dead batteries when issued from storage.

The standard MWC G10 is one of the most time-tested military watches, with earlier variants in service since the 1980s. While this model shares a similar design with the steel models, the titanium case elevates it to a higher class of watches. The G10 Combat Elite range comes with a black NATO-style nylon military webbing strap, and the reverse of the case carries various contract markings.

Sapphire Crystal Benefits:

Many buyers ask about the advantages of sapphire crystal over standard mineral crystal. Sapphire crystal’s exceptional strength, shatter resistance, and scratch resistance make it highly desirable, especially for military personnel, security staff, and police officers—who make up over 70% of our customer base.

In our experience, over 90% of cracked watch crystals involve timepieces with mineral glass crystals. Even hardened mineral crystals fall short in durability compared to sapphire, especially in adverse conditions. Sapphire crystal undergoes heat treatment after manufacturing to eliminate internal stresses, enhancing its strength. It then receives two layers of anti-reflective coating, further improving its performance.

While sapphire crystal is typically found in higher-end watches due to its cost, the investment is worthwhile for those seeking durability, longevity, and superior performance in their timepieces.
