MWC 1940s Pattern Classic 46mm Limited Edition XL Military Pilots Watch with Sapphire Crystal
SKU Code: CLIX/SS/ST/ND
This MWC Ltd Edition Classic Aviator watch is part of our classic Pilot watch series, based on military designs from the 1940s and 1950s.
The MWC Classic Aviator range offers two styles: one with a subsidiary dial for the second hand, a common feature in the 1940s, and the other, including this model, with a sweep second hand that became popular from 1943 onward. These varying designs give you the flexibility to choose a model that aligns with your personal style.
With an extra-large 46mm case (excluding the crown), this timepiece has a commanding presence and frequently receives favorable attention from watch enthusiasts.
This model uses Super Luminova, a non-radioactive luminous paint that stores light and releases it progressively throughout the night for optimal visibility.
It features a traditional automatic 24-jewel NH35A mechanical movement, visible through the clear caseback, and offers a 41-hour power reserve when fully wound.

Why choose sapphire crystal?
Sapphire crystal is the strongest material for watch crystals, offering shatter and scratch resistance. Its durability makes it ideal for military personnel, security forces, police officers, and those with active outdoor lifestyles—groups that represent over 70% of our customers. Sapphire crystal is significantly more durable than mineral glass, as it is heat-treated to remove internal stresses that can cause weakness. Two layers of anti-reflective coating are applied to enhance visibility. While sapphire comes at a higher price, it is typically found on higher-end watches due to its superior durability. Interestingly, sapphire crystal is now also used in the latest iPhone models.
