MWC 300m Automatic G10 – Stainless Steel
This is a rare automatic version of the 300m G10, housed in a brushed stainless steel case. These watches were produced in 2018 for a bulk contract, and examples are seldom seen on the open market. In fact, automatic versions are exceptionally scarce, as most of the models encountered are quartz variants. This particular watch originated from a military and security industries clearance sale.
The MWC 300m / 1000ft water-resistant G10 range offers the highest depth rating of any G10 / General Service watch currently available anywhere in the world. It combines extreme durability with practical everyday usability, featuring a highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and the rugged Seiko NH35A 24-jewel automatic movement.
Although the design traces its roots back to the original G10 military watches of the 1980s, this model is a thoroughly modern interpretation. Every key component has been upgraded, resulting in a specification that stands well above traditional General Service watches.
When MWC secured a contract in 2017 to produce this model, the required specification included:
- Heavy-duty screwback case
- 300m water resistance
- Sapphire crystal
- Screw-down crown
The result is a uniquely capable General Service watch, combining low maintenance, reliability, and exceptional toughness.
The caseback features contract markings together with its individual serial number.

Why Sapphire Crystal?
Customers often ask why sapphire crystal is considered superior to standard mineral glass.
Synthetic sapphire is widely regarded as the premium material for watch crystals because it is:
- Extremely scratch resistant
- Highly shatter resistant
- Stronger under harsh conditions
- Clear and durable over long-term use
These qualities make it especially popular with military personnel, security professionals, police officers, and anyone with an active outdoor lifestyle — groups that make up a large proportion of MWC customers.
In real-world use, the vast majority of cracked crystals we see are mineral glass rather than sapphire. Even hardened mineral glass performs well, but it does not match sapphire for durability in demanding conditions.
Sapphire crystals are manufactured using a specialist process and then heat-treated to remove internal stresses that can cause weakness. Anti-reflective coatings are then applied for improved visibility.
Because of the higher production cost, sapphire crystal is normally reserved for better-quality watches — and for good reason.
