We received two of these watches in part exchange from a Heathrow-based airline pilot who flies the London–Los Angeles route. He had purchased them in the United States as gifts for two friends but later chose different presents, exchanging the watches with us for a chronograph he wanted for himself.
He mentioned that they were difficult to find, and our own enquiries suggest that availability outside the United States is very limited. They are an American brand, and we have not found any European stockists, making these an unusual opportunity to purchase a pair already sourced for sale in Europe.
Both watches are completely brand new and supplied with their original presentation boxes and guarantee cards. We are arranging delivery to our packing and shipping centre, where they are expected to arrive around November 7th.
This model is a modern interpretation of the iconic Chronosport Sea Quartz, worn by Tom Selleck as Thomas Magnum in the first three seasons of Magnum, P.I. While retaining the distinctive appearance of the original, it incorporates several practical upgrades.
Key Upgrades
- Swiss Ronda 715Li movement: Offers a battery life of up to 10 years.
- Sapphire crystal: Replaces the original mineral glass, providing excellent scratch resistance.
- 120-click unidirectional bezel: Provides finer adjustment than the earlier 60- or 90-click designs.
- DLC case finish: Adds a durable black finish with enhanced resistance to everyday scratches and wear.
DLC — Diamond-Like Carbon
DLC is a thin, hard carbon coating applied to the metal case, giving it a distinctive black or dark charcoal appearance. Its main advantages are excellent wear resistance and a smooth, low-friction surface.
Although highly scratch-resistant, DLC is not scratchproof: sufficiently hard impacts or deep abrasion can still damage the coating.
Design Heritage
The case design traces its origins to the Swiss case-making firm MRP S.A., founded in 1953 and acquired by Georges Hauert in 1979. Its distinctive shape has changed little since the late 1970s, preserving the character of the original while accommodating modern materials and components.

Why Sapphire Crystal?
Sapphire is widely used in premium watches because of its exceptional scratch resistance and optical clarity. It helps the crystal retain its clear appearance through everyday wear, making it a practical choice for a watch intended for regular outdoor use.
Although considerably more resistant to scratching than mineral glass, sapphire is not shatterproof and can still chip or break if subjected to a sufficiently hard impact.
