Overview

This model is a modern reissue of one of MWC’s classic 1980s diver’s watches, featuring a robust black PVD stainless steel case and a high-performance 24-jewel automatic movement.

Originally recreated for a U.S. defence contractor, this version includes several significant upgrades over the 1980s original — most notably a sapphire crystal that is both shatter- and scratch-resistant, plus an enhanced 300m water-resistance rating.

Covert PVD Finish

The matt black non-reflective PVD coating is identical to finishes often specified in military contracts for special forces and anti-terror units, offering exceptional durability and stealth.

Unlike painted coatings that can fade or chip, the colour in the PVD process is bonded at the molecular level, ensuring it won’t deteriorate under normal use. Only extreme abrasion or gouging could expose the underlying steel.

Military Heritage

This watch takes inspiration from the 1980 UK Ministry of Defence specification (DEF STAN 66-4 [Part 1] Issue 3) for automatic divers’ watches.
That specification required:

• A boldly marked dial

• Tritium luminous paint

• A mineral crystal
