The SUB/PVD/S/AB is one of MWC’s current military-specification divers’ watches, finished in a discreet covert matt black PVD coating. Built to professional standards, it combines a ceramic bezel, scratch- and shatter-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and a reliable automatic 24-jewel movement with a 41-hour power reserve.

Covert PVD Finish
The non-reflective matt black PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) finish used on this model is frequently specified in military contracts, particularly for special forces units, counter-terrorism teams, and covert operations.
Unlike painted finishes found on lower-grade watches, the PVD process chemically alters the surface of the steel at a molecular level. This makes the finish vastly more durable and resistant to fading or wear, even under heavy use. While extreme physical damage can still compromise any case, normal operational wear will not cause the coating to deteriorate.

Why Sapphire Crystal?
Synthetic sapphire is widely regarded as the best material for watch crystals. It is exceptionally strong, highly scratch-resistant, and far more durable than mineral glass under adverse conditions. This is why sapphire is preferred by military personnel, security professionals, police officers, and those with active outdoor lifestyles—groups that account for a significant proportion of our customers.
In our experience, over 90% of cracked crystals result from watches fitted with mineral glass. Even hardened mineral glass does not approach sapphire’s durability.
