SKU Code: NATO20MMGRY/XL
Extra-Long Grey NATO Strap – Pack of 20
This listing is for a bundle of 20 grey NATO straps in an extra-long (XL) length — ideal for larger wrists or for wearing over gear such as wetsuits, jackets, or uniforms.
These straps are longer than the standard NATO length and are being offered at a special reduced price as part of this bundle deal.
Why choose these XL NATO straps?
-
Extra room for adjustment – no more tight fits or awkward gaps
-
Longer tail – plenty of length to neatly fold back through the keepers
-
Improved comfort – no strain on the strap or your wrist
Strap Length Overview:
-
Standard NATO straps: Typically 270–280 mm, suitable for wrists up to approx. 7.5"–8" (190–200 mm)
-
XL NATO straps: Approximately 290 mm, ideal for wrists up to 9" (229 mm)
These 290 mm straps fall into the extra-long category, offering the versatility and fit needed by military personnel, divers, or anyone with a larger-than-average wrist or who wears a watch over clothing.
Durable, Comfortable, and Built to Last
These classic NATO watch bands are made from fast-drying ballistic nylon webbing—a material perfectly suited for military and outdoor use. The robust construction ensures maximum comfort, long service life, and an ultra-secure fit. The strap design secures your watch at two separate points, reducing the chance of loss to nearly zero.
A Brief History of the NATO Strap
The NATO strap dates back over 40 years, beginning with the original grey 20mm version issued to British forces. It quickly expanded to include RAF blue, navy, black, olive green, and the famous James Bond pattern. Over time, the range has grown to include orange SAR (Search and Rescue), regimental colours, national flag designs, camouflage patterns, and unit-specific custom straps.
We currently manufacture 167 different NATO variants. While many are sold via retail, others are made exclusively for government and defence contracts—hence the availability of small mixed batches like this one.
Military Specification
The NATO strap’s original design is based on the UK Ministry of Defence standard: Defence Standard 66-47 Issue 2 (dated 30 March 2001). Previous specifications include Issue 1 (1992), and earlier standards from the 1970s. While the design has evolved slightly, most contracts still require the same core specifications, including stitched buckles.
