Recreating a Vietnam-War Classic — Built to Original Military Specifications
The GG-W-113 infantry watch traces its origins back to October 1962, when the U.S. government issued MIL-W-3818B specifications to replace the earlier 1956 standard (MIL-W-3818A). These watches, produced by Hamilton, Benrus, and Bulova, became the trusted companions of American troops during the Vietnam War — and are now icons of military watch design.
In 2009, MWC worked alongside a U.S. veterans’ association to bring this historic model back to life. Using two original watches and their complete technical blueprints, we created a faithful recreation featuring a traditional hand-winding movement, just like the originals. The result is a watch that looks and feels like it came straight from 1965 — but with the reliability of modern engineering.
As seen in the final image, the 1965 Benrus reference model that inspired this re-issue demonstrates how closely the MWC version mirrors the authentic design, proportions, and spirit of the original Vietnam-era timepiece.
Whether you’re a collector, a military history enthusiast, or simply looking for a rugged daily-wear field watch, this GG-W-113 offers a perfect blend of authenticity, functionality, and understated style.
