Why Sapphire Crystal?

Many customers ask about the advantages of sapphire crystal compared to standard mineral glass. The answer is simple — synthetic sapphire is vastly superior. It’s exceptionally strong, highly scratch-resistant, and extremely difficult to shatter, making it ideal for military, security, and law-enforcement use, as well as for outdoor enthusiasts and anyone with an active lifestyle.

Over 70% of our customers fall into these groups, and our experience shows that when a crystal breaks, over 90% of the time it’s a mineral glass — even when hardened. Sapphire, on the other hand, can endure far greater stress and impact.

This strength comes from a precise manufacturing process: once formed, sapphire glass is heat-treated to eliminate internal stresses and then coated with two layers of anti-reflective material. This same sapphire technology is now used on the latest iPhones.

While sapphire does add cost, it’s an investment in durability and clarity that’s well worth it — one reason it’s found only on higher-end timepieces.
