Model: GMT/SS/B/QZ

LOCATION: UK

Condition: Brand New

Fault Report:

The watch arrived alongside two others of the same model from a Military and Security Industries clearance sale. All three watches appear to be brand new, still fitted with protective plastic film on the crystal.

None of the watches are currently running. Given their age, it's highly likely that the issue is simply due to depleted batteries. However, in a worst-case scenario, the only component that may need replacement is the Ronda 505.24H GMT movement, which is readily available at low cost on platforms like eBay. MWC Stainless Steel GMT Dual Time Zone Watch – Quartz Movement

This high-performance GMT dual time zone watch features a stainless steel finish, a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel, and a Swiss Ronda 515.24 quartz movement. It’s fitted with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and housed in a robust 300m / 1000ft water-resistant case, making it ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and general water sports.

While the watch is fully water-resistant and built to withstand demanding environments, its bezel is designed for tracking time across two time zones, not elapsed dive time—so it’s not suited for diving applications where a traditional countdown bezel is needed.

The Beauty of Simplicity: GMT Function Explained

The concept behind a GMT watch is refreshingly straightforward. Rather than a complex mechanism, the brilliance lies in simplicity:

  • A second hour hand is added, which rotates around the dial once every 24 hours.

  • A 24-hour scale on the bezel allows users to read a second time zone at a glance.

  • The 24-hour format eliminates confusion between AM and PM—perfect for frequent travelers and professionals who operate across global time zones.

Originally designed for long-haul airline crews and military transport pilots (such as those flying the Lockheed C-130 Hercules and Airbus A400M), this model lets users simultaneously track both local and destination time zones.

Why Sapphire Crystal?

One of the most common questions we receive is: Why choose sapphire over mineral glass?

The answer is simple:
Sapphire crystal is exceptionally strong, scratch-resistant, and shatter-resistant. That’s why it’s favored by military personnel, police officers, and outdoor professionals—who together make up more than 70% of our customer base.

Here’s some perspective:

  • Over 90% of cracked crystal cases we see involve mineral glass.

  • Even hardened mineral crystals fall short in terms of real-world durability.

  • Sapphire is heat-treated to eliminate internal stresses, then coated with dual anti-reflective layers—giving you crystal clarity and toughness.

  • In fact, sapphire is now used in iPhone screens for exactly these reasons.

While more expensive, sapphire crystal is a mark of quality—typically reserved for premium-grade watches like this one.

If you need a rugged, high-visibility timepiece for global travel or professional aviation—with durability to match—this model is built for the task.
